Children

Orcas Island Community church loves the ones Jesus loves, and Jesus had a special care and compassion for kids.

Our Children's ministry strives to create safe, fun environments where children can be introduced to Jesus' love for them, and grow and mature to reach their full potential in relationshjps with God and their community.

NURSERY

We provide high quality, loving nursery care for ages birth - 4 years old during our 10:30am Sunday morning worship service and other events throughout the church calendar.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

During the 10:30am service, after a time of family worship, children are invited to participate in an age appropriate Sunday School class. Our Sunday School is provided for elementary school aged children.

AWANA

The Awana program aims to help kids to learn about the Bible and the message of Jesus' love that it has for them. The meetings consist of fun games, learning bible verses and a message of joy and hope from God's Word. Awana meets on Monday evenings from September throught to the end of April. Cubbies (kids aged 3-4 years) meets from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the Family Center Nursery. Sparks K through 2nd grade and Truth and Training 3rd through 6th grade kids all meet from 6pm - 7:45pm.

SUMMER CHILDREN"S PROGRAMS.

  • SPRING FLING provides a week-long action packed adventure with your friends and Jesus. This year our program will take place in the evenings after school.
  • June 11th - 14th between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

  • SUMMER CHILDREN"S WORKSHOPS. Arts, crafts and activities to engage children during the summer months. Dates tba.

    HARVEST CARNIVAL.

    For 15 years our Harvest Carnival has been an regular island stop for trick or treaters. We provide games and prizes for all ages, and a good time is had by all.

  • All of our children's ministry staff are required to undergo a Washington State Patrol background check after a waiting period of 1 year. This is followed by a period of supervised work in our programs.
